Sahuaro knows about the Boys’ volleyball team, but does it know about the managers running it behind the scenes? All six of the managers work hard to have these boys train hard to be the best that they can be and perform well in future games. We know how hard they work, but we may not know much about them.
Kayden Sanchez, a Sophomore in her first year as a manager, said her hopes for the future of the Boys’ Volleyball team are to “…end up somewhere in life where they feel confident.” Some things she wants people to know about her are that she plans to play all the sports that Sahuaro offers and to help out. Her favorite part is “…seeing how everybody is as a person and like getting to know them.”
Lilly O’Rouke-Slone, a Junior who plays Varsity Volleyball and has been managing for two years, said she hopes that the boys “…make it to state,” and that she’s been playing volleyball for eight years now. She’s been managing the team because “I want to get better at volleyball and help my coach out.” Her favorite part about the team is “…scrimmaging with them and helping them.”
Ari Perkins, a Sophomore who plays Jv and has been managing since her Freshman year, said that her hopes for the team are “I hope we make playoffs,” and she’s been playing volleyball at Sahuaro for two years now, while she’s been playing volleyball for three years in total. Her favorite part is the team’s humor.
Zoee Plotts, a Junior and Varsity volleyball player who has been managing for three years now, said she wants to see the team “go further into playoffs this year and just see everybody improve.” She follows in her dad’s footsteps by helping out the Boys’ Volleyball team. Her favorite part is “when the guys get super excited and all work as a team.”
Kaylie Rice, a Junior who plays on the Varsity volleyball team as well and has been managing for three years, said, “My hopes for the future is that once all the guys graduate, they can look back and enjoy and reminisce on all the good times we’ve had.” Her favorite part is “connecting with all of the guys and being able to encourage them, and to help them out.”
Camia Basham, a Sophomore, played basketball and volleyball at Sahuaro this year. She has also participated in track as a thrower. Basham wants to see the team “improve in ways that they want to improve.” She loves managing because it allows her to have fun with the sport.
We can count on these girls to keep the team in check and up to par for future games they may play in. They work hard to have these boys flourish, and in the end, they flourish as a result of their work. When you get the chance, give them a big thanks for all they do here at Sahuaro as the Boys’ Volleyball managers.
