The Junior League of Tucson has taken a significant step in ensuring that every teenager in Southern Arizona has access to beautiful formalwear for special occasions. Through their program, Cinderella’s Closet, they provide free dresses and accessories to ensure that financial barriers do not prevent any student from experiencing the joy of school dances, such as homecoming, winter formal, or prom. This initiative has made a substantial impact, helping over 2,000 teenagers since its opening in Spring 2023 to find the perfect outfit for their special nights.
Cinderella’s Closet operates with a simple yet powerful belief: “every student deserves to attend their school dances… without financial barriers standing in the way,” as it is stated of thier website. The program recently expanded its reach by opening a permanent formalwear boutique located on the Junior League of Tucson campus. This addition provides greater opportunities for students to shop outside of the larger events, thereby making it even easier for them to find the ideal dress.
Central to the success of Cinderella’s Closet is its flexible shopping process. Students, families, schools, and groups can reserve appointments seven days a week by contacting the organization via email. The scheduling is designed to accommodate everyone, with options available during daytime, evening, and weekend hours. Additionally, schools and organizations are encouraged to arrange group shopping events to ensure that every student can find the dress of their dreams.
As a passionate advocate for this initiative, Ms. Bradley has dedicated her time to organizing prom trips for students, now in her second year. “My previous experience includes a winter formal trip in December, and the excitement for this year’s prom event is building. With two school vans equipped to transport up to 18 girls at a time, we are determined to create an inclusive environment for all those seeking formalwear.”
“My goal for this trip is clear: to provide access to beautiful prom dresses without any barriers of cost or circumstance. “Everyone should be able to have the experience of finding ‘the’ dress,” I firmly believe. This opportunity not only boosts their self-esteem but also allows them to experience an essential rite of passage.”

The program is more than just about dresses; it embodies the spirit of support and community.” Right now, Cinderella’s Closet exclusively offers gowns but remains open to everyone in need—regardless of gender—wishing to find their unique style for a special occasion.
In Bradley’s free time, she volunteers to help with personal shopping appointments, and it was an easy decision to introduce this invaluable resource to the students. Seeing them benefit from such a meaningful program brings Bradley immense joy, and she genuinely hopes they enjoy this experience as much as my colleagues and she does. “By empowering our youth to participate fully in their school events, we foster a community where everyone feels valued and celebrated.”
