It has been 40 days since the missing case of 84-year-old Nancy Guhrie opened. TODAY’s host, Savannah Guthrie’s mother, was taken from her Arizona home in the middle of the night.
This past week, the usage of search dogs was reported to no longer be in use for the search. After weeks of undergoing the use of these dogs both in her home and around the area, the police department made an official statement. “They are available if needed in the future,” Sheriff Chris Nanos said to Fox News Digital.
And after conducting a door-to-door questioning of Guthrie’s neighbors, no official statement from law enforcement was released regarding this step in the investigation.
However, the glove that was found just two miles from the missing mother’s home was traced for DNA. Not only was this a big hope for a breakthrough, but a big fall as well, because the glove was traced back to an employee from a restaurant just down the road. The other gloves found near the scene are still being traced, but the same outcome is likely.
On March 5th, 2026, TODAY host and daughter of Nancy Guthrie, Savannah Guthrie, made her return to the TODAY show studio for the first time since the disappearance. A “Today” show spokesperson told Fox News Digital, “Savannah Guthrie stopped by the studio this morning to be with and thank her TODAY colleagues.” It was later revealed that the plan for Savannah to officially go back to her host position was still highly focused on being with her family during this difficult time, and most importantly, bringing home her mother.
