I believe the Indiana Pacers will win the 26-27 NBA championship. This team is very talented and full of young, hardworking players. They are more than capable of bringing home a championship. This year the Pacers made it to game seven of the NBA Finals; they were going to win it until their star point guard, Tyrese Haliburton, got a critical injury and couldn’t play for the rest of the game. I believed that they could’ve won it all that year. Now, without their star guard for the whole season and other minor injuries on the team, they don’t have a chance to make the playoffs for the 25-26 NBA season. Therefore, when all injuries go away, this team looks unstoppable.
It all started when I laid my hands on the leather basketball my dad gave me. I began my basketball journey at the age of ten. I started playing basketball for fun, playing with my neighbors and friends. Pretty soon, I fell in love with the game, taking it up a level and playing for a team with my friends. It was the best time of my life; I had so much fun playing the sport I love, I made new friends while playing, and got a lot better over time. My skills evolved, learning a new move every week, improving my shooting, and most importantly, passing. That was it, I wanted to be a great passer, I always thought sharing was important, so I would share the ball during the game. I would get frustrated when teammates don’t pass. We are a team; when someone scores, we all score.
Later, I was introduced to watching games, and I watched every team in the NBA. Picking my team was very easy when I came across the Indiana Pacers. Every team has its own strengths and weaknesses, strategies, coaching, and different players. Since I love playmaking and passing, I chose the Pacers; their ball movement was incredible with lots of talent all around, I could hear what they say through the screen, their personalities and love for the game were great. Of course, the Pacers weren’t the best; in fact, they were bad. This team doesn’t have a championship, didn’t make the playoffs for 3 straight years (2021-2023), and their best player continued to get injured. It was time for a change; I began to lose interest; fans booed, and nothing changed. Until the beginning of the 2022 Season, the Pacers traded for the future star, Tyrese Haliburton. Everything changed; the Pacers began to have a winning record and make the playoffs, bringing my interest back immediately.
I believe that with Tyrese Haliburton entering his prime, along with all the other young players, this team is a championship-caliber team that is a huge threat in the East. Basketball is my passion; it’s what I enjoy. I used to take it seriously, but now I just play to have fun. The Indiana Pacers inspire me; I try to watch them every game and learn new things so I can do these moves myself.
