This month started with the news of the missing 84-year-old Arizona resident, Nancy Guthrie. The mother of TODAY host Savannah Guthrie had been reportedly abducted, according to authorities. Early ransom notes were sent to news outlets and were not fully authenticated. Savannah Guthrie and her siblings uploaded several new video messages to the public. “And I wanted to say to whoever has her or knows where she is, that it’s never too late. You’re not lost or alone. And it is never too late to do the right thing, and we are here,” Savannah Guthrie stated.
Updates following two weeks since the 84-year-old went missing include the Ring camera footage from Guthrie’s front door being released to the public, with authorities asking for any information that could lead to an arrest of the suspect or suspects.
A glove was found, identical to the ones seen in the doorbell footage, with traceable DNA, just 2 miles from her home. Alongside this, the FBI recently increased its $50,000 reward to $100,000 for any information leading to Nancy Guthrie’s location or to the people responsible.
Officers have reportedly detained and questioned a man during a traffic stop, who people are speculating could be a suspect, but the man was let go. The following Friday night, Pima County Police revealed they had questioned another man in connection with Nancy’s disappearance, searching a home, but no arrest was made, and the man was let go.
On February 14th, no one was arrested following a law enforcement confrontation at a household in Tucson, Az. After multiple questionings and pleas to the public, it was just released as of February 17th, 2026, that Nancy Guthrie’s family has just now been cleared of being involved in their family member’s abduction, “To suggest otherwise is not only wrong, it is cruel,” said the Pima County Office.
A worldwide connection to the ill mother’s missing case, 3 weeks since she was last seen, President Donald Trump claimed he would direct the Department of Justice to seek the death penalty, referring to it as the “most severe” federal punishment for the people responsible if Nancy Guthrie isn’t returned to her family alive.
