Famous French Model Brigitte Bardot Dies At 91

On December 28th, 2025, the famous French actress, singer, model, and animal rights activist Brigette Bardot died at the age of 91. The legend’s cause of death has not been released by either her foundation or family, but it was known that Bardot was in recent bad health and passed away peacefully.

Brigitte Bardot was well known as a sex symbol in the world of modeling, as well as being a film icon. Her breakout role in And God Created Women catapulted the international starlet even after the movie flopped in French box offices. After opening in the United States the following year, Brigitte redefined mid-20th-century sex symbolism in films.

From there, Brigette found herself being hired into a variety of roles in the 50s and 60s. Some of her other movies include Contempt, Viva Maria!, The Truth, Babette Goes to War, and Love Is My Profession.

Though Bardot found massive success, she gave up the world of fame at the age of 39 to start the Brigitte Bardot Foundation. According to the foundation’s website, “FBB works for the protection of wild and domestic animals in France and internationally.”

Bardot started her foundation because she was disillusioned with fame and was seeking a deeper calling. The foundation highlights that she leveraged her fame to become a powerful voice to protect animals. Founded in 1986, the French actress chose to start her foundation in Saint-Tropez, France, later spreading throughout Europe and the United States. The foundation became recognized as a public utility foundation in France in 1992.

Though Brigette Bardot will be missed dearly by many, she has held up the walls of the modeling and film industry to this day.

Sarah Bol, a junior, has been working on The Paper Cut for three years and is now the Editor-In-Chief. In addition to The Paper Cut, Sarah is also involved in Student Government, National Honor Society, Link Crew, Marching Band, Winterguard, Robotics, and Book Club. Sarah has set her focus on getting into the University of Arizona to study journalism and become a broadcast political analyst, while also continuing music studies. Sarah’s passions include studying politics, taking photos, music, and much more. Sarah’s known to have a very busy schedule, often having to turn down hangouts because of school, clubs, or work. Because of that dedication to her craft, Sarah has won many awards – one of her most prideful being the Cougar Spirit Award that she received at the 2025 Honors and Awards night. But Sarah’s portfolio doesn’t end there; this past summer, Sarah completed a program called Camp Cronkite, a camp held at the ASU Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications. While there, Sarah learned from some of the best journalism professors in the country; they delved into many topics, including Podcast Strategy, Catchy Ledes and Headlines, and Videography. Sarah comes from a long line of artists; her grandfather was a sculptor, painter, and photographer, and her grandmother was a music teacher and photographer. Her mother was very involved in art and activism in New York, and her sister is a clarinetist. Growing up surrounded by the arts, Sarah has dipped her toes into many forms of media, her most recent being music. Sarah is in our Color Guard, where they perform with the marching band using dance and auxiliary arts. Now she’s taking it one step forward by learning the clarinet and the trumpet, in hopes of joining the jazz band in the spring.
