This past Friday, the freshmen were able to hang out and enjoy fun events planned by Cougar Link Crew with different stations set up all around the cafeteria for them to enjoy. At one of the stations, freshmen were able to decorate their own cookies while dressed in their comfy pajamas and playing various games to pass the time with their friends. There were so many fun things for freshmen to do, so they never got bored with anything too quickly.

After checking in at the door, the freshmen were given a ticket that they would use to get snacks and play games. There were many things to have fun with, and it seemed like all of the freshmen really enjoyed themselves.
At the cookie decorating station, the freshmen were able to pick up a cookie cut-out of their choice and decorate it with various frostings and sprinkles. There was chocolate and vanilla frosting that they could use as a base for their sprinkles to be put on top of. Once their cookies were finished, they were able to eat and enjoy their decoration. One of the freshmen, Ethan Russell, said, “I only really came to decorate some cookies.”

The freshmen also had various games they could play. Many freshmen played chess games against one another or against a member of the link crew. A group of freshmen competed in a game of Uno. The Cougar Link Crew even enjoyed an intense game of Battleship. There were many other games that were waiting to be used, such as Jenga and various card sets.
In one open space, students were able to play a game of bean bag toss without having to worry about risking anyone getting in the way of crossfire. The freshmen also enjoyed using the balloons all around the floor as a fun game. They would toss up the balloon and try to keep it up in the air before it fell and hit the ground. Many freshmen had fun doing that, as it was a fun way to pass the time until it was 6 PM, which is when the event ended.

At a different table set up, the freshmen could pick out a coloring page to color as they pleased. There were many different designs to choose from, such as various snowmen, along with different colors of crayons and colored pencils. Some of the freshmen enjoyed doing that with their friends instead of playing some of the games and/or decorating cookies. All of the pictures they coloured turned out wonderfully!
At the snacks table, the freshmen could pick from different bags of chips and little bags of candies. The freshmen and Link Crew were also able to grab some hot chocolate to drink, while a member of the Link Crew cutely warned all of the freshmen about the hot chocolate by saying, “Be careful, the hot chocolate is really hot right now.” The hot chocolates could have marshmallows added, which made them delicious.
In the end, the freshmen all really enjoyed themselves there to celebrate the end of their first-ever semester as high school students.
