About the Contributors
Mia Payette, Editor
Mia Payette is a senior, and she's ready to make this year her best one yet. To help her achieve this goal, she's involved herself in many clubs and programs. Some of her roles include running social media for Sahuaro's Book Club (@Sahuaro_bookworms on IG), Link Crew leader, editor for The Paper Cut, and drum major for the marching band. For the past 8 years, Mia has put her heart and soul into band, and this year is no exception. Joining The Paper Cut last year solidified her decision to pursue journalism. More specifically, she wants to be a sports journalist, something she discovered she is passionate about last year.
Outside of Mia's Cougar spirit, she loves to read, craft, take photos, and hangout with her friends and family. She's always up for an adventure and likes to be anywhere as long as the people she loves are with her. Her camera contains over 10,000 photos, and as the self-proclaimed photographer friend, the subjects of her photos are mostly her friends, family, and the places she goes. Mia is a nostalgic person, and taking photos helps her remember where she was at that exact moment in time.
Tatum Crawford, Editor
Senior, Tatum Crawford, joined The Paper Cut last year to grow her interpersonal and writing skills. Tatum enjoys traveling and sightseeing, especially with her mom, who she is very close to as it was just her and her mom for 12 years. Her ideal places to visit are Milan and Florence, where she found an appreciation for the food and art. She enjoys art museums, her favorite ones being the Louvre and the Uffizi Gallery. Tatum plays many games, especially Animal Crossing and Legend Of Zelda. She adores taking pictures; she has over 30,000 photos on her phone - most of them being travel and cat photos.
Family is also super important to Tatum. She loves visiting her family in Mississippi and spending time with them. She has family scattered all around the world, including eighteen siblings. She's only met about four so far but would be interested in meeting the rest. Out of all of them, she is the youngest, as they are in their late twenties.
When she graduates, Tatum wants to move to Seattle with her older sister to attend her dream college - the University of Washington. Her other option is NAU. Regardless of where she goes, she wants to study medicine.
Mason King, Reporter
Mason is a senior, new to The Paper Cut, which he joined out of a love of writing and taking photos. He also serves as treasurer of the school's book club, which he has been actively involved in since his sophomore year. After high school Mason would like to attend Northern Arizona University (NAU) and go into the medical field.
Music has always been important to him; you'll always find Mason listening to music, and he is currently working on learning the piano. He is a big collector of things, including vinyl records, of which he owns more than one hundred and fifty. Reading is very significant to Mason. So far this year, he has read around forty books - each has a detailed review on his notes app.
Family is vital to Mason and he tries to spend as much time with them as possible. He has a younger sister who is his favorite person in the world. He has eight pets including two cats, a dog, three turtles, and two ferrets named Kiwi and Miso. Every April, Mason and his family travel to Puerto Peñasco, Mexico, which he looks forward to all year. He also loves to be outdoors, whether it's a stroll on the beach, going for a walk around his neighborhood, or spending time up on snowy Mt. Lemmon. He also enjoys taking photos, especially of the sunset, stars, his cats, and nature. Mason dreams of traveling all across Europe in the future. He's excited to try new things, live his senior year to the fullest, and be a part of The Paper Cut.
