Trump’s Third State of the Union
February 19, 2020
In the chamber where President Trump was impeached, on February 4th, 2020, Trump stood in front of a large crowd, televised to 45 million people delivering his third State of the Union address. There were lots of positive things that were said, and some negatives that were done before and after the speech. The night began and ended with some drama. At the beginning of the speech, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi reached out to shake Trump’s hand, which he snubbed. She retaliated by publicly tearing her copy of his speech into pieces after it was delivered.
During Trump’s speech, Trump brought out the president of Venezuela, Juan Guaido, whom the Trump administration has supported in his efforts to topple President Nicolas Maduro, the country’s socialist leader. After Juan Guaido gained support, Trump went ahead and talked about school choice.
Trump also warned that Democrats wanted to “provide unlimited free health care to illegal aliens.” He stated, “To those watching at home tonight, I want you to know: We will never let socialism destroy American health care.”
Trump said the new U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement will lead to a “much greater level of fairness and reciprocity” in trade with those countries. The China deal will end China’s practice of taking advantage of the United States, he said.

The next part about Trump’s speech was about how he made the economy better, and he gave a warning on democratic policy.
