Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour” in Vienna, Austria is canceled for dates August 8th-10th due to the threat of terrorist attack.
On Wednesday, August 6th, the concert organizers (Barracuda Music) posted an Instagram statement that reads: With confirmation from government officials of a planned terrorist attack at Ernst Happel Stadium. We have no choice but to cancel the three scheduled shows for everyone’s safety.
The next day, one of the two suspects confessed that his plan involved “…killing as many people as possible”. He had reportedly been planning the attack since July. This led police to find “Concrete preparatory acts” in his home in Ternitz, Austria. No information on the suspects’ identities has been released yet.
The news sent thousands of “Swifties” into a flurry of emotions. Many were left devasted by missing out on an event they’d planned for months, to even a year. To compensate, hundreds of fans flocked to a street named Corneliusgasse. This was specifically in reference to Swift’s song “Cornelia Street“.
Many “Swifties” have started to look for tickets to her next and last shows in Europe at Wembley Stadium this upcoming weekend. But most have been unsuccessful due to high pricing, and little availability.
Taylor Swift and her dancers are yet to speak on the situation, many think this could be due to a safety order. “Swifties” wonder if she’ll perform her London shows without commenting about the tragedy that could’ve occurred.
Despite the sadness the cancelation has caused, it was unfortunately necessary for everybody’s safety.
