Reid Park Zoo, nestled in the heart of Tucson, Arizona, is set to display its newest attraction in 2026: Pathway to Asia. This exciting addition to the zoo promises to envelop visitors to the diverse continent of Asia, offering an immersive experience with some of the region’s most threatened animals. One of the focus points of Pathway to Asia is the Kaiser Family Lotus Pavilion, a beautiful structure serving as both an architectural marvel and an event space for private weddings, corporate gatherings, and other special events.
Visitors will be able to encounter a wide display of Asian wildlife in fascinating and naturalistic habitats. Among the highlights, we will welcome back a new and improved tiger exhibit. It’s designed to give these big cats ample room to roam and is set atop a lush hill. It will also include a bubbling waterfall, a flowing stream, and a pool where visitors can observe the tigers up close, thanks to a dynamic underwater viewing experience.
Another exciting addition is Wings of Wonder, an aviary where visitors can encounter friendly bird activity. Pathways lead visitors through the aviary, providing an up-close look at some beautiful birds featured. For those who are looking for an even more engaging experience, they are also offering bird feeding.
A visit to the Pathway of Asia wouldn’t be complete without seeing the largest lizard on earth – the Komodo dragon. Visitors can come face to face with this large reptile, which will be a part of the Robert Hamilton Tropical Discovery Center. It will also be home to other reptiles like snakes, amphibians, turtles, and lizards.
Pathway to Asia will have three more endangered species, including a joint habitat for muntjac deer and red pandas, featuring a lush landscape, both indoor and outdoor. Visitors will also be able to view a species of ape, the lar gibbon, which visitors can see across its habitat which includes many poles and ropes for enrichment. Additionally, guests can see an Asian small-clawed otter in their new enclosure, which provides both shallow and deep pools with underwater viewing areas.
Pathway to Asia promises to be a captivating and educational experience for guests of all ages. From seeing the majestic tigers to the playful otters, the diverse display of animals will transport visitors to the enchanting world of Asia, while the Kaiser Family Lotus Pavilion provides the perfect setting for memorable celebrations and events.
