Mereme Touka

Meet Mereme, an African-American student who is strivingto achieve all her goals. The meaning of her name is “princess,” which her grandfather named her. Mereme’s native languages are Arabic and French. Although her dad is helping her understand French, she’s more fluent in Arabic. She is a new reporter, joining The Paper Cut this year to write about stories, news, adventure, and more. Mereme is looking forward to get better at writing professionally. She enjoys art, sports, and gossip – well, the good kind of gossip. in addition, Mereme also loves walking around at night, winter, and the color grey. Mereme’s favorite quote is, “One world, one lif,e one person.”  She prefers this quote because it reminds her to live the life that was given to her. Mereme puts her family first; even though she has ups and downs with them, she loves her family to death and after. Mereme says that Billah, aka her sister, is the most important person she cares about. Mereme loves her sister like a pirate loves gold. Mereme has been staying in Tucson for a hot minute, and she wants to travel around the world when she is older. Mereme would love to go places like Madagascar, Italy, or anywhere but Tucson.
