Join Interact Club and Help Others

“We cannot seek achievement for ourselves and forget about progress and prosperity for our community… Our ambitions must be broad enough to include the aspirations and needs of others, for their sakes and for our own” -Cesar Chavez
Senior Yeohoon Youn, President of Interact club, says that this quote perfectly explains the club, because it “talks about how important it is to help the community and interact is a club that helps the community.”
Interact has volunteered at Ronald McDonald house by making and serving food to the families that were staying the night there; volunteering at school events like Soleng Tom Elementary’s Halloween carnival; helped out at the U of A’s Tucson Festival of Books; and more. However, their biggest project they do every year it is the shoebox project. This project is done by many other Interact clubs as well, but the purpose is to give families in Nogales, Mexico a good Christmas. They fill up shoeboxes with toys, socks, hygiene projects or anything the kids or families might need and hand them out to them. It “helps people who live in extremely poor living condition”, says Mr.Wells, the advisor of the club. He enjoys “being able to help humanity or other people who are in need of any kind of help.” He’s been in the club for 14 years now and loves it.
Everyone is friendly and loves to help. If you’re interested in Interact Club, meetings are held every Thursday in Mr. Wells room 327 right after school.
