On Thursday, October 30th, Sahuaro Students prepped for the upcoming holiday season by painting and decorating small pumpkins. Student Council provided brushes, paints, and 100 mini pumpkins. Students were also free to bring their own pumpkins and tools. This was a fun activity that allowed students to use creativity, have fun, and get a closer bond with the school. The Pumpkin Event was organized by Student Body President Allyse Chalmers. Ms. Trujillo, Student Council Advisor, stated that this took three weeks to plan everything out. The event took place near the gym and the auditorium. A bunch of students participated; they were having fun and enjoying their lunch time.
Sheri Holodynski said, “I love the fact that Student Council members thought of the idea to get students to have fun before Halloween begins.” Sheri also liked the idea of the small pumpkins. “It’s really cute for my room. I can carry it around and it’s movable.” She had the opportunity to talk to new people and socialize with others, however, Sheri doesn’t interact or talk to people a lot, so it was very enjoyable for her. She also said, “I had a lot of fun to be honest I would do this again.”
Karson Nuss claimed, “Even though the pumpkins were small, I saw a bunch of people who were able to fit in all these sorts of designs and details, which was really cool to me and all. I also saw a cart full of pumpkins, and I think that it was nice of the school to provide fun because not a lot of high schools will spend a large amount of money just to buy pumpkins.” Karson ended up carving the mini pumpkin and placing it on his porch for his decorations.
In conclusion, Ms. Trujilo said, “The event was for fun and to get people excited for Halloween.” Student Council members come up with a bunch of entertaining activities, and they try to get everyone involved. These student council members are just great for the school.
