As of October 10, 2025, Donald Trump, Benjamin Netanyahu, and the leader of the state of Palestine, Mohammad Mustafa, all met in Sharm el-Sheik, Egypt, to sign a peace deal. Besides these leaders, other mediators were Egypt, Iran, Qatar, and Turkey. This deal was split into three different parts and follows a 20-point plan initiated by Trump.
Firstly, the release of all hostages of Israel, military or civilian, even if they’re deceased. This is something that all of Israel has been fighting for since day one. Currently, 20 living hostages have been returned. The rest of that part of the deal states that the deceased must come back to have proper burials. Secondly, Palestinian prisoners were released from Israel and welcomed back into Gaza.
The third part of this deal was for Hamas to disarm and Israel to leave the occupied Gaza Strip. This is the part of the ceasefire deal that stops the war until it finally just simmers down to nothing.
The operations to carry out both ends of the deal started on October 13th, 2025.
On Palestine’s side, there has been an issue with receiving humanitarian aid: “600 trucks should be coming into the Gaza Strip daily; however, Israel will only allow 300” (Al Jazeera confirms Israel allowing only 300 aid trucks daily into Gaza). Israel has demanded that Hamas do more to ensure the swift return of the bodies of the remaining 19 hostages in Gaza. The World Food Programme said Friday that it had brought in 560 tons of aid since the ceasefire began, but had not started any distribution in famine-stricken Gaza City as key northern crossings remained closed.
