On September 21, American history was made in Phoenix, Arizona, at State Farm Stadium for Charlie Kirk’s memorial. It featured great speakers like Donald Trump, JD Vance, and Trump Jr., as well as Charlie’s wife, Erika Kirk, who were all behind bulletproof glass for safety reasons. They all said that this was not just a memorial, this was a revival of traditional Christian values in America, and how many people picked up a bible for the first time and went to church for the first time as well after Kirk’s assassination.
They are all right. This country was founded on traditional Christian values, but that doesn’t mean that you automatically have a disadvantage if you have different beliefs, because we are an equal opportunity country. The memorial started at 11:00 and ended at 4, but before it even opened, 100,000 or so people were camping outside the gates of State Farm Stadium to honor Charlie Kirk. His dream was to fill a stadium with people, and it’s a horrible shame that his dream was fulfilled the way it was with his death.
When the doors opened, the stadium was filled to capacity with Christian supporters, who all sang songs of Christ and God’s forgiveness, as well as many others who came to support the conservative movement. All of Charlie’s friends and employees were there to give speeches on how they knew Charlie and what he stood for, as well as the journey of how Turning Point USA came to be. When Erika Kirk got on stage, she almost burst into tears seeing how many young people her husband influenced. She then forgave the shooter the same way that god forgave humanity all those years ago, quoting, “Forgive them for they know not what they do… That young man, I forgive him.” She also said she was proud to accept the responsibility of being the new CEO of Turning Point USA. When she got to the hospital, she was relieved to hear that Charlie didn’t feel any pain and that he died with a slight smile on his face. He was doing what he loved, and when he blinked, he was with our creator in heaven.
When it was Trump’s turn to speak, he said that he was a lesser man than the Kirks because he could not bring himself to forgive the shooter the same way that Erika did. He also said that he was going to deploy the National Guard in Chicago to honor a request that Charlie gave him to clean up the streets of Chicago. Now I think the whole country needs to be put back together and fixed because we all have really let the place go to waste over the years, but it still can be saved by spreading the gospel and conversing with others, even when you disagree rather than attacking them when they say somthing you don’t like, things that only take a few seconds or minutes to do can mean a big impact on the future.
