About the Contributor
Nya Brown, Editor
Nya Brown is a junior going into her 3rd year of The Paper Cut and 2nd year as an editor. Nya is a constantly active student at Sahuaro, balancing her studies with her dental program at Santa Rita and her job. At Sahuaro, Nya is a part of Cheer, NHS, Book Club, Culinary Club, Student Council, and Cougar Link Crew. She also runs the Instagram accounts for The Paper Cut (shs_thepapercut), Culinary Club (sahuaroculinaryclub), and the boys’ tennis team (sahuaroboystennis), as well as her personal photography account (nyaspics).
School Spirit is Nya’s middle name! (Not really, it’s Malia.) Articles on spirit weeks and homecoming are her favorite to write, and she’s already planning her outfit for the dance! The past 2 years, Nya has run for Homecoming court. Speaking of running, Nya has also run and been elected as Treasurer of Culinary Club and the Secretary of Book Club!
This past summer, Nya (and her camera) traveled to many places, such as Phoenix for a journalism camp at ASU, to New Mexico to celebrate her cousin’s engagement, and even to Florida to visit her hometown. She spent her whole summer taking pictures of everywhere she visited, and she can’t wait to do it again next year. Nya’s favorite hobby is photography; if she can take her camera somewhere, she’s coming home with at least 50 photos.
Nya is taking a Dental Assisting program at Santa Rita High School in hopes of working as a Dental Assistant throughout college. She dreams of going to a university out of state and majoring in Biology while also continuing to cheer. Her ultimate goal is to one day become a Pediatric Orthodontist who photographs cheer competitions on the side!
