A new school year has started, and freshmen are experiencing high school for the very first time. Things may be a little different than how most freshmen expected. Being in high school can be scary for most, while others have already gotten used to it. The first year of high school can be a lot, and it shows during the first few weeks of school.
Asking freshmen about how they feel so far gives a good idea of what high school can be like. Everyone gets accustomed to things differently, and this is a good way to understand how some people become acclimated. Asking around is also a very good way to meet new people, and it may help someone feel more comfortable in a bigger school. Not everyone is used to having to switch from building to building, so it could be a major step for some of our freshmen here.
Freshman Keaira Lemke said, “School’s going great because it has been easy.” Another Freshman, Myah Carter, said, “This year has been going good because I made two new friends.”
Some people may have chosen this school because an older sibling goes here. Having to go to a school because of your older sibling may be different for people who are starting fresh and don’t have any friends from their middle school. Having at least one other person from your middle school who goes to the same high school as you will make things a little less awkward, but unfortunately, not every freshman gets to be that lucky.
Freshmen all chose to go to Sahuaro High School for their own reasons, even though some didn’t make their own choice to go here at all. Since every freshman has a different reason, they are also very different than one another in their own unique ways.
Every Freshman here has a different story to tell about how their year is going, and you can’t just say that everyone’s Freshman year is going the same as the two Freshmen above. Each of our Freshmen can have very different experiences; we are only one month in after all.
Some Freshmen may have only friend groups full of other Freshmen, while some may have friend groups with all different grades. No matter if you have only Freshmen or all grades, it’s good to have friends, especially if you share classes with them, because it will feel better to have someone to talk to. All-in-all, it’s safe to say that Freshmen have a long four years ahead of them, and it’s okay to still not be used to high school as long as you do your best in and out of school.
