Fall is here, and you know what that means: Sahuaro football! Every year, our team splits into two, and the Cougars play… well, the Cougars, for one night only. Essentially, it’s an open practice, playing out the kinks of what could go wrong during gameplay for the newer students. But it’s not just that, the purpose of this game is not only to show the student body how ready the football team is for the season, but also to hype up the crowd for the upcoming season.
Our 2025 Red & Blue Scrimmage was held on Friday, August 15th, encompassing all things for a great start to a (hopefully) even greater season. The Cougar Marching Band and Cougar Colorguard came out with all the stops, never missing a beat; the Sahuaro Cheer rallied on our football team, and the snack bar was way better than subpar.
Our Sahuaro Band, unfortunately, did not have their 2025 show ready for halftime, but they did have their amazing stand tunes in play, including our fight song Across The Field, Band Yell, Land of a Thousand, and Bacon. Our Cougar Colorguard matched their energy, performing their matching choreography for each song, even performing their dance to ‘Me Too’ by Meghan Trainor.
The Sahuaro Colorguard Captain, Madi Jorden, is eager for this next season and expressed, “I’m really excited just because we’re going to be more prepared… and our show is really awesome this year, so yeah, I’m really excited.”
Our football team brought out all the stops, from the sports recognition and rally to the DJ and Cougar Cage, even bringing out a Dip N’ Dots truck for our students. The Sahuaro Student Council came out to hype up the crowd and invite students down to take a selfie with the Cougar Cage poster, helping out with anything the football team may need.
At the end of the day, the Cougars pulled out all the stops, showcasing their love for the game and the students, expressing school spirit in all ways possible at all fronts. For only one dollar admission, it was worth every penny.
