To say Ozzy Osbourne was a very well-known figure worldwide is an understatement. He was the lead singer of the band Black Sabbath, producing popular songs like “Iron Man” and “War Pigs”. After leaving Black Sabbath, he had a highly successful solo career, creating hit songs such as “Crazy Train” and “Mama, I’m Coming Home”. He didn’t just make music, however. He had his television show called The Osbournes. He was also featured in a few movies, such as Little Nicky, in which he famously bit the head off of a CGI bat, a reference to his infamous real-life incident in 1982 when he bit the head off a live bat during a concert. Another movie Ozzy Osbourne was in was Ghostbusters 2016. He was even in a video game called Brütal Legend, in which he played the role of the Guardian of Metal.
Sadly, in 2019, he developed Parkinson’s disease. It’s uncertain exactly how he got it, but it could be from a few things: a head injury, substance abuse, or genetically, since his family seems to have a history of Parkinson’s. He kept it quiet about having Parkinson’s until January 2020 in an interview with Good Morning America, which is when he told fans he had developed Parkinson’s. He remained very active in the public’s eyes afterward. He also started to advocate for Parkinson’s Awareness and Research.
On July 5th,2025, he held his last concert with Black Sabbath, titled “Back to the Beginning”, which earned a staggering 190 million dollars, which was all donated to Curing Parkinson’s, The Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and the Acorn Hospital. This was an impressive feat because it was the most money raised for charity ever. Sadly, a week later, on Tuesday, Ozzy died of a heart attack. His family said, “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family’s privacy at this time.” He had a public funeral in his hometown of Birmingham and then had a private one for just close friends and family. Fans from all over made a funeral wall for Ozzy, and his family stopped by to read some of the letters. As Ozzy was finally being taken to the funeral home, his fans were chanting his name as he left. There he was buried in his family home in Buckinghamshire, England. Rest in Peace, Ozzy Osbourne!
