Dear Texas,
Stop taking our athletes! We get it; we both want to be competitive in today’s MLB, but why us? Why the Diamondbacks? You could just as easily get someone from the Reds, Blue Jays, even the Rays, but no, you both take some of our best players.
Why can’t you just accept the fact that you two will never be formidable opponents?
Every time we play you, you will lose. Just because you took Joc Pederson and Christan Walker doesn’t mean that you will win games.
Even though you keep making big off-season signings the Rangers and the Astros will not make the postseason. So, what is the point of taking all my favorite players? You don’t even have memories and connections to these players. You do not
remember Christan Walker hitting a walk-off homer against the Dodgers. You don’t think of the time Joc Pederson hit a little league home run. You don’t know how bad Miguel Castro was and still is.
We become attached to these athletes whether they’re on our favorite team or it’s just fun watching them do the impossible. Whenever they leave that team, it can feel like they’re directly abandoning us. So why Christian Walker and Joc Pederson?
Although I know that you probably picked them up due to their power, fielding, and budget price, I still think that you took them on purpose just to make us mad. I’m just upset that even with these offensive powerhouses you either won’t make it to the postseason or past the Wild Card.
I also understand that they are trying to get better contracts for themselves and
their families, and I understand why we didn’t re-sign them, I still feel deserted. I feel that they left just to make me and other fans sad even though I know it’s not true.
I also know the reason why the Diamondbacks themselves didn’t resign Joc Pederson and Christan Walker. I register they are getting up there in age and that they both had 200 strikeouts last year. Joc Pederson can also run like a sack of potatoes, they still have a place in my mind.
In the end, I’m upset that I will never get to see Joc Pederson and Christan Walker hit bombs on the weekends, or watch them bat at ten PM on a school night, and miss them when they weren’t in the starting lineup that day, I’m aware that they are just trying to do what’s best for them. But the Texas baseball teams get no mercy, I will always hate them deep in my heart.
Sincerely,
The Arizona fanbase
