Aurora Thompson-Lynch is a very dynamic person with a passion for education that sets her apart. She was born and raised in Humboldt County, though she also spent part of her childhood in the Bay Area. These experiences have greatly influenced her perspective on life and learning, giving her a unique look that she brings to her work and interactions with others.
Aurora has a close-knit family that plays a significant role in her life. She has an older sister who lives in Colorado, and she loves spending time with her aunt, uncle, and grandmother, who live in Tucson. Currently, she is focusing on her education and work, choosing not to marry or have children at this time, which allows her to dedicate her energy to her career.
Aurora’s journey in education began with her last job in an aftercare program at an elementary school, where she discovered her love for working with children. This experience was very impactful, as it deepened her understanding of the challenges and joys that come with nurturing young minds. Motivated by this passion, she joined Sahuaro, where she aims to gain more experience in public schools and further her career in education. As a hall monitor, her primary responsibility is to make sure the safety of students comes first – a role she takes very seriously. Aurora said, “I believe that a safe and supportive environment is crucial for effective learning, and I am committed to fostering that atmosphere.” One of her favorite aspects of working at Sahuaro is the opportunity to interact with students and learn about their different lives. She finds it fascinating to compare her upbringing with theirs, recognizing the differences that shape their experiences and perspectives.
In terms of Aurora’s education, she attended Laurel Tree Charter School for high school, where she developed a strong foundation for her future studies. Currently, she is enrolled at Pima Community College, where she is pursuing her goals of continuing to work with children. She plans to transfer to the University of Arizona this fall, which shows a significant step in her journey.
After her time at Sahuaro, Aurora hopes to become a substitute teacher, allowing her to continue her passion for education while gaining valuable experience in classroom settings. Beyond her professional goals, she has some fun personal facts that add depth. The area where she grew up inspired the popular show Gravity Falls, which is her favorite show, and she describes it as both weird and fun. Aurora enjoys crocheting, sewing, and knitting, showing her artistic side and her love for hands-on activities. Aurora said, “I love being active and doing anything hands-on at school or home.” Overall, Aurora Thompson-Lynch is a dedicated person committed to making a positive impact in the lives of students while also pursuing her interests.
