At Sahuaro, the front office is more than just a spot for paperwork. While teachers are shaping minds in the classroom, the two ladies are the first to greet everyone at the front desk and keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes. Mrs. Guerra and Mrs. Green-Miranda handle everything from a quick question to an emergency, all with grace and a sense of humor.
The 2024-2025 school year marks Mrs. Vivian Guerra’s second year as a member of the Sahuaro family, though her career didn’t start here. Before joining Sahuaro, she worked at an elementary school, however, she was looking for a change. “I wanted to work all year round,” she explained. Mrs. Guerra’s family is incredibly important to her. She speaks fondly of her ten grandchildren and her 45-year marriage. In her free time, she enjoys painting and spending time with her loved ones.
When asked about a day in the office, Mrs. Guerra explained, “We handle enrollments, registrations, withdrawals, and answer all the phones.” She spoke highly of the students at Sahuaro, joking, “It’s the parents that are a little challenging.” Mrs. Guerra also praised her student aides, saying, ‘They’re all awesome. They do their job, which helps a lot.'”
Mrs. Kimberly Greene-Miranda was born in New York but moved to Tucson about twenty-five years ago. She’s very close with her family, sharing, “I have a lot of grandchildren, so I go to a lot of sports events.”
In addition to spending time with family, she enjoys bowling, hanging out with friends, doing yard work, and working within the community and with students. She joined Sahuaro last July, but before that, she worked at Secrist Middle School. “I’m a people person,” she says, reflecting her passion for connecting with others. She comments on the busy nature of the front office, saying, “We do so much up here, you have to multitask… we get probably three or four hundred phone calls a day.” She adds, “That’s why I like it here—it’s busy, and the day goes by fast.”
Mrs. Greene-Miranda and Mrs. Guerra work tirelessly behind the scenes at Sahuaro High School, handling everything from hundreds of phone calls to daily multitasking. As Mrs. Greene-Miranda puts it, “People need to know that me and Mrs. Vivian work hard up here… from 7:30 to 4:00, it’s nonstop for us pretty much all day.” Despite the busy pace, their friendly nature and commitment to the school shine through. Whether you see them every day or only once in a while, their hard work and welcoming attitude play a key role in keeping Sahuaro running smoothly and making it a place where both students and staff feel supported.
