President Donald Trump is pushing forward with his aspiration to “Make Greenland Great Again”, labeling it as a “necessity.”
Tuesday, January 7th, Donald Trump Jr landed in Greenland raising some questions on what exactly Donald Trump’s plans are for the Arctic island.
Greenland’s Prime Minister, Múte Egede states that, “We are not for sale and will never be for sale.”
Stating that owning Greenland is necessary for U.S. economic and international security, Greenland is rich in natural materials such as oil, and certain earth metals used for electric cars. When asked if there would be economic or military coercion, he couldn’t confirm either.
If the U.S. had access to Greenland’s natural resources, we wouldn’t have to rely on imports from China.
Greenland is located at a strategic point in the Atlantic, perfect for shipping. Many boats have to pass through it as well. meaning if the U.S. had control over it, they could charge passing shipments, leading to a big increase in money.
While Greenland denies being for sale, and refuses to be sold, they state that they are open to working more closely with the U.S. Greenland wants a strong cooperation with the United States.
