Bryce James, the youngest son of NBA legend LeBron James, has officially committed to The University of Arizona, joining the Wildcats’ 2025 draft class.
Bryce James is ranked a three-star prospect by ESPN. He is in his senior year and is currently attending Sierra Canyon High School in Chatsworth, California. Bryce is a guard standing at a whopping six feet and six inches tall, weighing only 190 pounds. His current playing average is 6.3 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.0 assists, recorded from just four high school games this season. While these numbers aren’t quite notable coming from a player sought after by many D1 schools, it should be considered that Bryce missed several early season games due to an injury.
James played 14 games over the summer with the Strive For Greatness AAU team on the Nike EYBL circuit. James averaged 6.9 points in those games while shooting 39 percent from the field, 2.2 rebounds, and 0.9 assists in 22 minutes of play. He shot 36.8 percent from 3-point range and made multiple shots from deep in seven games. His standout performance was highlighted by a 21-point game, where he went 5-for-9 from the 3-point line and added six rebounds.
The University of Arizona started the New Year very strong by picking up the Sierra Canyon High School (CA.) player, despite him having multiple other offers including from programs like Ohio State University and Duquesne University. James previously made unofficial visits to Ohio State in the fall of 2023, and his most recent visit was to Arizona in late November of 2024.
Bryce James announced his commitment to the UA on social media in early January. The post was captioned “100% committed ⬇️,” captured James and head coach Tommy Lloyd in McKale Center. The photo was edited by Kyle Doiron Design on Instagram.
It is suspected that Bryce will be a multi-year college player with much room for development, unlike his brother Bronny, who only spent one season at USC before being drafted by the Lakers in 2024. Bryce is not a typical Arizona recruit, but it was a big win for the U of A because they are still struggling to lock down five-star forward Koa Pete and the five-star guard Brayden Burries.
