10. The Great Impersonator – Halsey Released on October 25th, 2024, The Great Impersonator was originally recorded in 2022 but had a delayed drop due to her diagnosis of lupus and her sons birth. The album had months of promotion, mainly being Halsey re-creating other artists album covers. She re-made many artists album covers such as Aaliyah, Britney Spears, Evanescence, and many others. This album explores how Halsey’s music would’ve sounded throughout different decades. The album debuted at #2 on the Billboard top 100.

9. Charm – Clairo Charm, Clairo’s 3rd studio album, was released on July 12, 2024. The album strays from her usual “bedroom-pop” style of music; she enters more of a “soft-jazz” era. Clairo delves into feelings of vulnerability, intimacy, and charm. The album debuted at #8 on the Billboard 200, with track, Juna, topping the TikTok Billboard 50. After the album released, Clairo announced concert residencies at Fonda Theatre and Webster Hall.

8. Cowboy Carter – Beyoncé Beyoncé’s 8th album, but her first country one. Cowboy Carter uses familiar americana sounds from Beyoncé’s’ childhood and features famous country artists like Dolly Parton and Willie Nelson. She wanted to call attention to black trailblazers in the musical world, while also spotlighting rising black country artists like Brittney Spencer and Tiera Kennedy. The album was over 5 years in the making and was released on March 29th, 2024. This album was the biggest debut for any black woman, garnering 76 million streams its first day on streaming platforms.

7. WE DON’T TRUST YOU – Future and Metro Boomin This collaborative album between Future and Metro Boomin was released on March 22nd, 2024, though its been in works for at least the past year. In August 2023, Metro lost 3 of the instrumentals intended for this album; later in January 2024 Metro stated he wouldn’t be cutting his hair until he completed the album. Less than a month later on April 12th, WE STILL DON’T TRUST YOU (a sequel album) was released. Song “Like That” by Future, Metro Boomin, and Kendrick Lamar peaked on the Billboard Hot 100, giving Metro his first number 1 single ever.

6. eternal sunshine – Ariana Grande Sticking to her roots, eternal sunshine is a pop album focused around themes of love and susceptibility. Ariana took inspiration from the film “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” for the title. Dropped on March 8th, 2024, eternal sunshine has upbeats meant for dancing in springy breezes. The album debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200.

5. HIT ME HARD AND SOFT – Billie Eilish Released on May 17th, 2024, this is Billie’s 3rd studio album. The album, like lots of her other pieces, was co-written with her brother Finneas O’Connell. Though a short album, it was Billie’s most lyrically strong piece of work yet. This album falls under the “Alt-pop” label while still staying true to her original indie vibes. All songs charted within the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100.

4. CHROMAKOPIA – Tyler, The Creator CHROMAKOPA was an unexpected drop. On October 16th, Tyler posted a teaser trailer for lead single “St. Chroma” on his social media; the next day he announced the albums name, release date, and cover. 12 days after its first promotion, CHROMAKOPIA dropped on October 28th, 2024. CHROMAKOPA explores profound topics such as loss of self-identity, pregnancy scares, relationship problems, and daddy issues. It had many surprise features with artists like Glo Rilla, Sexyy Red, and others. The album had the biggest hip-hop debut of the year and at one point, 14 songs occupied the top US Spotify charts.

3. The Tortured Poets Department – Taylor Swift This album has a dark academia aesthetic and dives into something new for Taylor, something featuring synth-pop sounds. It was composed by producer Jack Antonoff. He commonly uses synthesizer’s in his music to create an ethereal feel. Taylor announced the album after receiving a grammy for best pop vocal performance. Released on April 19th, 2024, the album spent 17 weeks at number 1 on the Billboard 200. Two hours after its initial release, the deluxe version (The Anthology) was put out.

2. Short n’ Sweet – Sabrina Carpenter Although its technically her 6th album, Sabrina likes to think of it as her 2nd album; her second “big girl” one. This is her second album with Island Records. Released on August 23rd, this album captures the sweet essence of summer. The album demonstrates Carpenters perspective on her love life, dating, and the emotional impact of relationships. The album title references her short relationships, and stature. Sabrinas release of single “Espresso” sky-rocketed her fame, hitting number 1 on the UK single charts. Other Single “Please Please Please” hit number 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100.

1. BRAT – Charli xcx A cultural phenomenon some have said. The albums aesthetic and sound revolve around an “early 2000’s club classics” atmosphere. A TikTok creator named Kelley Heyer created a dance to single “Apple”, and it went absolutely viral! Millions of fans recreated the video, and when Charli XCX went on her joint “Sweat Tour” with Troye Sivan, they had a camera dedicated to a different fan performing the dance each night. Kamala Harris’s HQ account on TikTok even used the term “Brat” as a way of signifying a bold and brave attitude. On October 11th, deluxe version of the album “BRAT and It’s Completely Different but Also Still BRAT” was released. This version of the album had collabs with 20 artists such as Ariana Grande, The 1975, Billie Eilish, Lorde, Troye Sivan, Kesha, and many others. The album debuted at number 2 on the UK Albums Chart and eventually hit number 1, a milestone for Charli.
