Red vs Blue Scrimmage Kicks Off the Season

Football season has begun! And what better way to kick off the season than with a scrimmage to display abilities?

Both JV and Varsity were split up to play each other. JV was in white and divided to play each other and Varsity was in blue and divided to play each other as well.

Coach Al, head coach for football, is very confident in the team this year. He says that the attitude for this upcoming season is awesome. Even as early as this summer, the coaches have been drilling the principle of taking accountability into the players. Coach Al also expresses his concern the lack of senior players but is proud because they have been able to step up to the plate and guide the team. “We are not senior heavy, but they do play a captain role and we are going to lean on them this season, they are our strengths. Coach Al is going on his third year and says all his seniors know what’s up. Overall all the coaches are expecting a good season. This season, there will only be six games with tough competition back to back. The first official match of the season is August 3oth at Sabino. Let’s support our team and show Cougar pride!

Sophomore, Lynnea Montgomery, is giving The Paper Cut a second try this year. She initially joined newspaper to improve her social and literary skills, but after her first year, she realized how fond she is of the newsroom's warm and exciting environment. Lynnea enjoys spending time with her family and going out with her friends. She is absolutely addicted to spending her money, whether it be on food or clothes; consequently, she cannot hold onto a single paycheck. Aside from spending, she also loves reading and watching anime in her downtime. Lynnea was born and raised in Tucson and has a love-hate relationship with the city, dependent on the season and weather. She hopes to pass this year with flying colors and get involved. As for career paths, Lynnea envisions herself attending college with a major in law and a minor in psychology. As for this year, Lynnea is going to do her best in everything she applies herself to and make the most of this year.
