Snoop Dogg became the new face of the Olympics. Snoop Dogg is an American rapper, record producer, and actor. His music career started in 1992 after Dr. Dre discovered and included him on “Deep Cover” Dre’s solo debut. Since then, he has become one of the most well-known figures in rap.
NBC asked him to be at the Olympics as the special correspondent to cover the tournament. He also performed in the closing ceremony, where he sang “Drop It Like It’s Hot”. According to Henry L. McNamara, a New York-based venture capitalist, Snoop Dogg is being paid to make an appearance at the Paris Olympic games. McNamara made a post on X (Previously known as Twitter) saying “Sat next to an NBC exec at dinner, he said Snoop Dogg gets paid $500k a day plus expenses to be here promoting Olympics.” Another tweet made by McNamara says “From [his song] ‘Gin and Juice’ to a few million to be a celebrity at the Olympics – what a world.”
Snoop Dogg may receive a payout of about 8 million dollars just for showing up. Some fans of the Olympic games are not happy to hear that Snoop Dogg might be getting paid more than some of the athletes themselves.
He has promoted the Olympics by making headlines throughout the games – hanging out with Noah Lyle’s mom, dancing with the U.S. women’s gymnastics team, making a video with Prince William and Kate Middleton, and performing in the closing ceremony where Snoop Dogg has contributed to the Olympics. It all culminated with Snoop carrying the Olympic torch into Los Angeles, where the 2028 Olympics will take place.
“But remember, I’m a rapper. So ain’t no rapper ever did what I’m doing,” said Snoop.
