Ghost conspiracy theories have been around for thousands of years, but the question remains, are they real? All over the world, some people believe in spirits and some do not. Everyone has their own opinion on the existence of ghosts, and the debate continues with multiple claims to prove their existence, from eyewitnesses to paranormal investigations.
Paranormal investigations often come in the form of documentation, both visual and audio recordings. Investigators share their findings through videos, photos, and audio clips during the exploration. During investigations, multiple tools are used to capture evidence of the spirits. Investigators will often use electromagnetic field (EMF) meters to detect and measure electromagnetic fields. They have sensors that detect changes in energy, so when there’s a spike, it could indicate the presence of something. They also use Electron Voice Phenomena (EVP) sessions, which aim to capture ghostly voices beyond human perception. An example of proof might be a video of unexplained events, such as orbs of light, shadow figures, or objects mysteriously moving. With EVP sessions, investigators might ask questions about the ghosts in environments that are believed to be haunted, while audio recording. The idea is that spirits may respond with audible voices or sounds that become clear during playback, even if they weren’t heard in real-time.
Eyewitnesses are also crucial evidence of the existence of ghosts. People who encounter ghosts often describe vivid experiences. For instance, they can recall seeing shadowy figures, hearing footsteps, and feeling an uncanny presence. This isn’t new, individuals from back to ancient civilizations have described ghosts. In the ancient Mesopotamian texts, there are descriptions of ghost entities and spirits. The Epic of Gilgamesh, one of the oldest literary works, is also another example that includes references to ghosts in the underworld. Historical documents, such as diaries, letters, or even stories, have descriptions of encounters. King James I of England reported a series of strange and unexplained occurrences in his royal residence, like knocking sounds and sightings of apparitions. Ghost stories and unexplained events have been a timeless part of human experiences, leaving us to wonder about the mysteries of the world.
With all the evidence, I truly believe ghosts exist. Not only because of the evidence cited, but I’ve had some personal experiences. When I was nine months old, my aunt Gina died. Later on, when I was a 1-year-old, I would randomly scream and cry in the middle of the night and point to a corner of the wall and just say, “Aunt Gina,” and it became so frequent my parents had to tell my aunt to leave because she was scaring me. Another experience I had was when I was six; my mom and I were at her office, and while she was working, I was playing in the kitchen. About twenty minutes later, I came into her office and said there was a little girl in the kitchen who was about my age. Her coworkers also described this building as haunted and told my mom there was a girl’s spirit roaming. All in all, you get to decide what you believe in, but you will never know what truly roams this earth.
