Canned Food Drive at Sahuaro!

Natalie Valdez Martinez, Reporter

Calling all Cougars! Are you interested in helping those in need? Well, you’re in luck, HOSA, the Sports Medicine Club, is hosting a canned food drive for those in need. The goods collected will be donated to the community food bank to help families who are currently struggling and could use some help. When asked about the importance of helping those in need, Monica Pita, our Sports Medicine teacher and Athletic Trainer said, “If we have the means to help someone else, then we should be willing to help causes such as the food bank; the food bank has increased needs over the holidays, so HOSA wanted to help contribute to this need.”

At this time, HOSA is asking for any canned items, including pasta, rice, beans, cereal, and peanut butter. That being said, they ask that NO glass items be donated to this drive. The boxes for the food drive will be located in Monica’s classroom, almost all of the math classes, all CTE classes, the training room, and the activities office. HOSA strongly encourages your participation in this food drive. Monica also said that the food drive, “…helps supply meals not only around the holidays but also in the coming months for those that might not have means of providing food for them or their family.” HOSA’s canned food drive will be up and running for the rest of the week and the last day for donations will be December 16th.
