He’s The Dad Of The School: Seth Gustafsson

Ali Wood, Reporter

He does it all! He manages the football and track and field, plays soccer, and is in Student Council.

Seth Gustafsson, who has been attending Sahuaro since his freshman year, is a 16-year-old junior. He is a kind person and will always go above and beyond expectations.

When asked what the best part of being involved with the Sahuaro community is, he replied, “I get to like watch newer kids like freshman and sophomores grow and learn about our school. It’s just cool to watch freshmen grow up.”

Seth was inspired to join Student Council during his freshman year since he wanted to be involved. His freshman year was online. He is an officer, a parliamentarian. He takes pictures of what happens in Student Council, enforcing business meetings, the dress code, and takes records of school events.

When asked what his favorite part of Student Council was he said, “…working with the junior class and getting the events and fundraisers set up.”

When asked how he manages football, he replied, ” …practices. making sure water gets out there and helping with equipment… game days are a bit more chaotic in making sure everything is prepared and ready…I help maintain a positive environment and help with gear.”

He manages track by helping with equipment and setting up the water station. He makes sure everyone has what they need.

This is Seth’s second year of playing soccer. He plays on the JV Boys Soccer team as the right-back defender.

“It’s a lot to keep up with your grades and participate in your sport, but you have to manage to do both of them,”  was his response when asked how it was to be involved in after-school curriculums.

Seth has 2 siblings, a seven-year-old brother, and a younger sister around the age of 12. Despite his busy schedule, he manages to help his family around the house. He also makes time to go out and enjoy the outdoors.

After high school, Seth wants to come back to Sahuaro and be an equipment manager for football. He also aspires to join the army and do mechanical work. After he leaves the army, he either wants to be a police officer or an EMT.

When asked a unique thing about him, he said, “I used to play the flute in middle school and a lot of people don’t know that I am Korean.”

“Do your best. If something’s hard, don’t break down. There are people here to help.” This is the one thing Seth would say to everyone in the community.
