Don’t Worry Darling: The Movie That Will Make Your Jaw Drop
October 3, 2022
The new movie “Don’t Worry Darling” is a thriller/horror movie about characters Alice and Jack living in the idealized community of Victory, the experimental company town housing the men who work for the top-secret Victory Project and their families. Cracks in their life begin to appear, exposing flashes of something much more sinister lurking through the shadows. I love the concept of a world that is seemingly perfect (but not) is an interesting concept. The movie came out on September 23rd in theaters all over the United States. Olivia Wilde is the film director of “Don’t Worry Darling” and is also an actress known as “Thirteen” Hadley in the medical drama “House”. Wilde has finally decided to dip her feet in filmmaking to make an unsettling yet fascinating movie.
The actress who plays Alice in “Don’t Worry Darling”, Florence Pugh, is known for playing in thrillers such as Midsommar, Malevolent, and Little Women. Her acting in all movies was amazing, even nominated for an Oscar for Little Woman. The actor who plays Jack in “Don’t Worry Darling”, Harry Styles, is a singer and songwriter who started his career in 2010. Pugh and Styles play a young couple living in California’s eerie vision of the 1950s.
The movie plays with the idea that everyone is in an experiment or simulation living the perfect suburban 1950s life. The opening weekend was a big hit at the box office making over 19.1 million USD. The ratings for the movie were very scattered and scrambled all through the weekend but the Audience review towards the week’s end became 85% on Rotten Tomatoes. There was a lot of controversy about the success or even failure of this movie but it is safe to say that this movie was not a complete flop, though not a success either.
