Sahuaro Cheer Wants You!
May 6, 2022
Attention Cougars! Sahuaro’s Cheer Team is looking for more participants for the 2022 – 2023 season. The Sahuaro Cheer Team “strives on diversity” and tends to avoid the stereotypical “cheer girls”. The team welcomes all with warm hearts. “Girls, guys, anyone is welcome… We’re having as many people as possible this year,” said cheer team captain Abigail “Abby” Ibarra.
Cheer tryouts will begin on May 11th and conclude on May 14th. Mandatory try-out dates are the 11th through the 13th from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm. The final try-out day is on the 14th from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. All tryouts will take place in the Auxillary gym.
So what needs to be done to try out? To participate in tryouts you need to pay a visit to the activities office to receive paperwork. You need to have an updated physical and current ATS paperwork. This can be found in the ATS portal. The activities office will give you all the help you need to fill out everything correctly.
Seems cool right? When joining the cheer team, a lot of work is involved. Abby also said, “We cheer at football and basketball games and during competition season we cheer at McKale stadium. “You do not need to have a lot of skill or knowledge of the sport to participate. A go-get-it attitude and a smile on your face are all that you need!” For more info, you can contact Coach Nutbrown in the activities office. Go Cougars!
