Self Help: From A Girl That’s Trying To Do Better
January 31, 2022
As a person who lives a life of continuous stress, it can sometimes be hard to manage everything on my plate at once. Constantly stressing out and turning to bad habits is a lifestyle that I don’t want to live anymore. I made this choice in an effort to become a happier person and lift up my well-being. I encourage you to make that same decision as well! These are the top things I implement into my daily routine to be the best person I can be.
Making your bed
What may seem like the smallest task is one of great importance. Making my bed in the morning has become the first task I do daily. It gives me a sense of productivity, as if I already started the day out on the right foot. There are some days when it is hard to get out of bed and complete a task, but this small one will make a great impact on your day and will eventually lead to being part of your morning routine.
Journaling
Writing and journaling have changed my life drastically. No matter what mood I am in, I now take a few minutes out of my day to write whatever feels right. If I have had a bad day, I will write what went wrong. If I had a great day, I will write about how amazing it was. Sometimes I will let my emotions get the best of me and get the sudden urge to write and it has changed my life for the better.
Going to the gym
When I tell you that purchasing a gym membership will change you, I mean it. Going to the gym has by far been the best self-improvement choice I have made in a long time. I recently just purchased a gym membership at LA Fitness and I have never been happier. I go every day for about 2 hours and it serves as therapy. I feel a sense of power when I go to the gym and the feeling is indescribable. Going to the gym will change you and have a great positive effect mentally and physically.
Cutting out non-necessities
I am someone that lives a constantly busy lifestyle. Between school, work, and extracurriculars, I am someone who is always on the go. For me personally, always running around can lead to a lot of headaches. With that being said, I would be taking a lot of pain killers to stop the headaches fast and I quickly realized it did more harm than anything beneficial. I realized I relied on it too much so I cut it out and can surprisingly tell a difference. Another thing I decided to cut out was toxic people in my life. Lately, I have done a lot of self-evaluating and came to the conclusion that sometimes the biggest roadblocks are the ones you decide to keep in your circle. Sadly, I had to cut off some friendships to be able to focus on becoming a better me. At first, it was hard, then you grow to learn that the person you’re becoming without the toxicity in your life is so much greater than the person before. Overall, removing things that only cause you harm and no benefit will have such a positive impact in the long run.
Self-improvement is a concept that a lot of people want to be able to grasp, but won’t take that first step towards improvement. I am here to tell you that you got this. Make the choice to take action and step in the right direction. You got this!
