Cicely Tyson was an American film, television, and stage actress who took the industry by storm over 7 decades. She is best known for her empowering portrayals of African-American women that shattered racial stereotypes in the 1970s, further making her an icon for civil rights. She is best recognized in media like “How to Get Away With Murder” and “Sounder.” She passed away peacefully on January 28th at the age of 96, no other cause of death was given.
