Jermaine Cole, better known by his stage name J Cole, has been known as one of the better hoopers in the rap game for a while now. Even some half joking about him making it onto an NBA roster (which he’s one step closer to now)  because finally, at the age of 36, is playing in the pros. He’s expected to play for Rwandan side the Patriots BBC in the inaugural season of the Basketball Africa League. He arrived in Rwandan on Sunday, May 8th to begin his quarantine. He’ll most likely be making his debut on Sunday, May 16.

Cole is definitely not a stranger to the basketball world. He was a stand out player at Sanford High School in North Carolina. After graduating, he was a walk-on at St. John’s University, but never played in a game because he decided to focus on his music career.

This weekend as a whole, was very exciting for J Cole fans because he finally dropped his long awaited album ‘The Off-Season’ on Friday, May 14, and after the first listen, I can tell you that the album definitely didn’t disappoint. There’s a nice mixture of chill vibes and semi-aggressive songs on the album. Surprise features from Atlanta rappers Lil Baby and 21 Savage add a refreshing feel to it as well.

J Cole is a man of many talents, whether it’s on the court or in the studio. He even appeared in the 2012 All-Star Celebrity Game. The highlight of the game was when Cole caught an alley-oop dunk from actor and comedian Kevin Hart. He’s proven his basketball skill on a semi-pro level, but we’re finally going to be able to see if he’s able to go pro.
