Halsey’s Pregnant!

Suprise!

On January 27th, 2020, singer/songwriter Halsey announced that she’s expecting her first child with boyfriend Alev Aydin via Instagram with the caption “Surprise!” The singer, who has been open about her struggle with endometriosis and her miscarriage, made the decision to freeze her eggs back in 2018 at the age of twenty-three and continues to be open about her parenthood.

“Doing ovarian reserve is important for me, because I’m fortunate enough to have that as an option, and I need to be aggressive about protecting my fertility [and] about protecting myself,” she said during an appearance on The Doctors.

Halsey added at the time: “Reproductive illness is so frustrating because it can really make you feel like less of a woman. You don’t feel sexy, you don’t feel proud, and you don’t feel like there’s much hope, so taking these measures to make sure that I get to have a hopefully bright future and achieve the things that I want to achieve by doing the ovarian reserve is really important.”

Back in 2016, she revealed during a Rolling Stone interview that she’d become pregnant the year prior, just before her career launched, but soon suffered a miscarriage directly ahead of a show. She still went ahead with the performance.

“It’s the angriest performance that I’ve ever done in my life,” she recalled at the time. “That was the moment of my life where I thought to myself, ‘I don’t feel like a human being anymore.’ This thing, this music, Halsey, whatever it is that I’m doing, took precedence and priority over every decision that I made regarding this entire situation from the moment I found out until the moment it went wrong. I walked offstage and went into the parking lot and just started throwing up.”

She added that she beat herself up over the miscarriage, explaining that she wanted “to be a mom more than I want to be a pop star, more than I want to be anything in the world.”

Over the years, Halsey has been involved with famous exes Evan Peters and G-Eazy, but is now with her soon-to-be baby’s father, Alev Aydin. The first sparked romance rumors in early January when Halsey posted a photo of him on her Instagram. However, the couple had yet to speak out about their relationship status, until now. Under her pregnancy announcement on Instagram, he commented “heart so full,” which she responded to, thus revealing her baby’s father.

The artist has also shared with fans her battle with endometriosis, including multiple “terrifying” surgeries she underwent. In a 2018 appearance on The Doctors, in which she raised awareness about endometriosis, she reflected on the experience of performing through a miscarriage.

“The sensation of looking a couple hundred teenagers in the face while you’re bleeding through your clothes and still having to do the show, and realizing in that moment, I was like, I never want to make that choice ever again, of doing what I love or not being able to because of this disease,” she said at the time. “So I put my foot down and got really aggressive about seeking treatment and I had surgery about a year ago and I feel a lot better.”

This woman has been through it and is still continuing to live her life to the fullest. This motherhood album will pop off, I have no doubt.
