Arrested at U.S. Capitol
January 22, 2021
After the massive Capitol riot, there was recently an arrest on Wesley Allen Beeler, a man who attempted to walk into the inauguration checkpoint with a fake I.D. and gun ammunition.
Beeler, 31, claimed he was lost. He also claims he didn’t ‘mean’ to bring a pistol into the area. “I pulled up to a checkpoint after getting lost in D.C. because I’m a country boy,” he said. “I showed them the inauguration badge that was given to me.” He was arrested on the charges of carrying an unlicensed pistol, possession of an unregistered firearm, and possession of unregistered ammunition.
Many officers noted the questionable bumper stickers placed on his Ford that he parked within the area. These stickers included very pro-gun statements, including, “If they come for your guns, give ’em your bullets first.” After catching Beeler, officers stated that the gun he was possessed had been loaded with a magazine and 17 rounds of ammunition. The court document also says that the pistol was chambered and ready to fire.
Beeler denies this. “It was just me forgetting to take it out of my truck before I left for work. I don’t know what the D.C. laws are. It still comes back on me, but I’m not a criminal,” As for now, Beeler is not allowed back into the city, with the exception of court or meeting with his lawyer.
