Thanksgiving Recipes, Activities, And More!
November 13, 2020
Let’s be honest, this year has been the absolute worst, however that does not mean we have to ruin our own ending by sitting on the couch crying with a bucket of holiday cookies on Thanksgiving Day. Here are some quick easy recipes, extremely fun activities, and more.
Homemade Strawberry Pie
You'll need: 3oz of strawberry jello 2 tablespoons of cornstarch 3/4th cup of sugar 1 cup of water 1lb of strawberries 1 Graham Cracker Crust 1 egg (you'll need the egg white) 1 can of whipped cream
First, you will need the egg white. With a baking brush, or anything you may have handy, you will put the egg white on the Gram Crust and place it in the preheated oven (400 degrees F) for approximately 5 minutes or until the crust is golden. Next, in a small pot you will boil the water with the sugar and cornstarch. Once at a boil the mixture will thicken, then you can mix in the strawberry jello and stir it all together. You will place that in the fridge for approximately 15 min. While that is cooling off you can cut the strawberries in halves (or fourths for smaller bites). Finally, you will place the cut strawberries in the pie crust and add the thickened mixture. Cool for 30 minutes, add the whipped cream, and enjoy!
Fruit Salad
You'll need: 1 Large can of mixed fruit 1 Large Gala apple 1 bag of mini marshmallows 1 can of heavy cream 1/2 cup of pecans (optional)
First open the mixed fruit can and pour all the juice in a separate cup (you’ll need it for later), next chop the apple into bit sized squares. Then get a medium-sized tupperware of choice and combine the fruits. Next, add the heavy cream, your amount of choice. Then you’ll add the mini marshmallows. The recipe calls for 1 cup of marshmallows, but this is what gives your salad the sweet flavor your looking for, so add as much as you’d like. Add the pecans (optional), add 3 tablespoons of the mixed fruit juice and mix everything together. Finally, chill for 30 min and enjoy!
Activities
During the holidays, there are many things one can do to pass the time for example, Karaoke is, in my opinion, one of the best ways to spend time. You could discover that one of your family members has a secret ability to sing or you could get a good laugh in! Either way, it’s a win-win situation.
Another great activity is a cookie decorating contest, each contestant can receive a cookie and different colored frosting at the end the best cookie decorator can win anything from $5 to the tray of cookies!
Decorations & Fashion
One easy decoration to make alone or with your family are hand turkeys. You simply get the paper of your choice trace your hand and draw a face. You can color or write anything you’d like on your turkey. You can even add accessories to your turkey like a cute hat or bow.
A very fun and easy fashion trend is The Turkey Hat, simply stick your turkey hands on a long piece of construction paper and staple the back side together, creating a fun and fashionable piece of head wear.
