As we all know the 2020 Emmy Awards have come, and with COVID-19 still a bane in our lives, we had to face television’s biggest event virtually. However we had no trouble making this year’s Emmy Awards special, and even though there won’t be a red carpet to walk on, the stars will still be honored on this night. Plus with Jimmy Kimmel, awards show veteran, as the host what could possibly go wrong?

The 72nd primetime Emmy Awards took place on Sunday, Sept. 20 at 8 p.m. ET/ 5 p.m. PT on ABC, which is available for cable subscribers, however you can also stream it on Hulu. Now I know we’re all wondering: how in the world did they pull off a virtual award show? Well with this day and age, technology is everything and so with 130 live feeds coming in from around the world, some things will just have to be different this year. For example Tracie Ellis Ross stayed cozy at home the whole time, like many stars who took part in this show from the couch; and Anthony Anderson had his very own tuxedo robe made. The Emmy producers even shipped out kits with movie quality cameras and lights for the stars to set up in their own homes, if this isn’t genius then I don’t know what is.

Several celebs appeared this year, Gabrielle Union, Issa Rae, Anthony Anderson, J.J. Watt, Lena Waithe, Oprah Winfrey and a special performance by H.E.R. As for the winners Zendaya, being 24 years old, won her first every Emmy award for the lead female role in the iconic TV show Euphoria. This young female star made history with not only her performance but her show that inspired young females everywhere, so congrats to Zendaya! As well as the rest of the winners from “Schitt’s Creek” which broke a record with seven Primetime awards and nine Emmys in total in the comedy categories, and “Succession” took home five awards, including best drama series.
