COVID Causing Controversy
September 16, 2020
Back in February Trump claimed to the American people that the virus would go away on its own, yet during the same time period Trump told journalist Bob Woodward , “You just breathe the air and that’s how it’s passed.. And so that’s a very tricky one. That’s a very delicate one. It’s also more deadly than even your strenuous flus.” During that same interview he claimed, “This is deadly stuff.”
However, despite specialists and many scientists claiming COVID 19 was dangerous, the American people continued to live their life, go to ordinary jobs, attend large social gatherings, and many even refused to wear masks. This caused the unfortunate events of the virus being spread nation-wide and the closure of many schools, restaurants, stores, malls, and countless other businesses. In a later interview in March Trump agrees he did downplay the virus. “I still like playing it down, because I don’t want to create a panic,” he told Woodward.
In Biden’s most recent visit to Arizona he reminded the American people: “President Trump intentionally misled Americans about the seriousness of the COVID-19 pandemic, he still doesn’t have a plan to contain it, and Arizonans are paying the price.” He also remarked “People from all walks of life are suffering under his failed leadership — from the small business owners trying to keep their doors open and their employees on payroll to the parents who are struggling with a difficult and chaotic start to the school year — and Arizona’s Latinos are bearing a disproportionate burden.”
During Trump’s Presidential Acceptance Speech back in August he did tell the American people he can guarantee a vaccine by the end of the year, if not sooner.
