The Civics test is an oral test given in order to pass the naturalization test to become an American citizen. A United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) officer directs the tests and will ask up to 10 of the 100 civics questions. The person must answer 6 out of 10 questions correctly to pass the civics portion of the naturalization test.

For the graduating class of 2017, it will be a requirement for them to pass the U.S. Civics test with at least a 60 percent to get their diploma. Throughout the school year, starting next year, the teachers will be preparing seniors in their government classes for this test. It will be their responsibility, along with the students, to be educated on this information before taking the test. The questions on the test are a mixture of common sense, United States history, and current government standing.
