Brian Michael Rini Fakes Being Missing Boy to FBI
April 11, 2019
Ohio man, Brian Michael Rini, age 23, was charged with a federal crime after his claim of being Timmothy Pitzen, a boy missing since 2011, proved to be false. Rini was DNA tested on April 4th, later to be found guilty about claiming he was the 2011 missing Timmothy Pitzen, who disappeared when he was six-years old. While no family can heal when a loved one, especially a child goes missing, Rini gave hope and then broke it once again for Timmothy’s father. Rini was jailed for lying to the FBI who found it odd from the start that Brian claimed to be Timmothy Pitzen, especially because Timmothy would have been 14 years old at the time that Rini claimed to be Timmothy Pitzen. This is not the first offense that Rini has made.
Rini has tried to tell the FBI in past cases that he was a Sex Offender, along with other claims that turned out to be false. Nobody knows why he makes these claims, but investigators say that in Timmothy’s case, Brian said, “he wished he had a father like Timmothy’s because if he went missing, his father would just keep drinking.” He has also recently got out of jail for 18 months after trashing a $400,000 model home. The U.S. Attorney said he could spend up to 8 years in prison just for committing a federal crime of lying to the FBI on an ongoing case. While this whole situation with Timmothy is happening, Brian is being found guilty of using an unauthorized vehicle, and was charged with 3 years of probation, 200 hours of community service, and he had to pay a fine of $1750.
Louisville Robert Brown, a Special Agent in Charge of FBI says,”As the result of false reporting in cases such as Timmothy’s, it is extremely traumatic to the families of the missing children, and diverts resources away from legitimate investigative efforts,” he continued, “Today’s charge is a reminder that lying to the FBI has consequences, and we hold those who attempt to distract us from our important work accountable.”
Timmothy’s disappearance occurred back in 2011, after going missing on a road trip with his mother Amy Fry-Pitzen. It was claimed by investigators that she had picked up Timmothy from school, took him to the zoo, a water park, and later was found dead in a motel, possibly from a suicidal act. Notes were found with her saying, “My son is safe, but will never be found.” This tragic event broke the hearts of many locals of Timmothy, and especially Timmothy’s father.
