Jussie Smollett’s Allegations- Update Pt. 3

In a shocking twist, “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett, who is black and openly gay, went from victim of an alleged hate crime, to a suspect with 16 felony charges against him for staging the attack, to having all charges against him dropped. The actor had to forfeit his $10,000 jail bond and do two days community service.
The investigation has been filled with very many twists and turns that making predictions about the next step in his career uncertain. Mayor Rahm Emanuel says “he will try to get “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett to pay Chicago back for the costs of the investigation into his claim that he was a victim of a hate crime attack, saying paying the money would be an implicit admission he was guilty of a hoax.” Appearing on the WGN Radio on Thursday morning, Mayor Emanuel also called on President Trump to “sit this one out,” after Trump tweeted Thursday morning that he would tell the FBI to investigate how Smollett’s charges were dropped. Investigators and prosecutors say, ” it was a staged attack orchestrated by the actor.” For those who may not know about the case, actor Jussie Smollett claimed he was sent a letter with a powder substance Tylenol, a drawing of a stick figure hanging from a tree, and cut out letters stating: “Smollett Jussie you will die black f***.” A week after the letter was allegedly sent, Smollett said he was walking down the streets of downtown Chicago, when two men dressed in black with masks over their faces started yelling racial and homophobic slurs as they beat him in the face and poured a substance of bleach on him. The night of the attack Jussie allegedly got on the phone with his agent but when the police asked to see their phones Jussie and his agent didn’t want to hand them over to the investigators. The Chicago attorneys ended up dropping all 16 charges against Jussie Smollett. The attention could soon end things for his performing future in Hollywood.
