What happens when we die? What happens to our soul, mind, and spirit? Essentially, where do we go?

The afterlife is something many believe in; although, the idea of afterlife is not a modern concept that someone recently invented. The first documented belief in the afterlife dates back to 3000 B.C. when the first Egyptian pyramid was built. The Egyptians believed that after dying in this world they would go on to live with the gods and goddesses, thus mummification to preserve their bodies for the “trip”.

Another afterlife theory is based on an event that happened many hundreds of years ago when an alleged savior, Jesus, was sent by god to teach his ways. This religion also teaches that being good in life you will be rewarded with eternal happiness in heaven, but if you are bad and do not repent for your sins you will go to hell for eternal suffering.

Next, Pantheism. Pantheism is not a religion – it is a philosophy where someone believes they are one with the universe, and after life they will eventually become part of the universe or “one with the universe”.

Finally, some people believe that when you die you’re done and there’s nothing after that.

So the real answer for “what happens when we die?” is unknown. Ohh well, whatever #yolo.
