Getting Acrylics makes every woman feel like a boss. You can get coffin, oval, almond, etc. Everyone talks about how wonderful getting acrylics are, but no one talks about what to do after you take them off. Your natural nails are completely damaged and very sensitive. Luckily, here is how to take care of your nails to get them back to healthy.
- No Nail Polish: Nail Polish might be the best way to cover up your unhealthy nails, but letting your nails breathe will help them regain their strength.
- Apply a Nail Strengthener: After one month of removing your acrylics, apply a nail hardener/strengthener every three days.
- Keep your nails short: After acrylics, your natural nails are more likely to break and split. Keeping them cut and filed with help.
- Oil your hands: Oil your hands and nails regularly using natural oils such as castor or olive oil. After washing, moisturize your hands to prevent dryness. Once a week, dip your fingers in warm olive oil for a few minutes and then cover them in socks or gloves. Allow the oil to penetrate and then wipe dry.
- Healthy Diet: Increase your intake of healthy fats such as avocados, raw nuts, fish, and olive oil. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables to hydrate your nails. Also eating protein daily will strengthen your nails. Supplements for your skin, hair and nails such as biotin and B vitamins will benefit your nails.
It takes about four months for your nails to fully recover but do not give up! Each time you do these steps, you are closer to getting your nails healthy again.
