Girls around the world want to be able to be involved with technology and other kinds of things, like computer sciences. Girls Who Code was created by Reshma Saujani in the year 2012 to close the gender gap in technology. It is a nonprofit organization that aims to support and increase the number of women in any kind of computer sciences. This organization is working on closing the gender employment differences in technology as well. This club is to educate, equip, and inspire young woman on doing computing skills around the world.

It is a national program that has it’s own curriculum. It is very important because there are not a lot of women out there who are involved in computer science.

Girls Who Code is every Monday at 4:00PM in room 403 with Mr. Christian. No coding experience needed to join the club. There are two officers in the club who are more involved and mainly in charge who are very good at coding. Which means they know how to work on building and designing anything, from video games to editing. In the Girls Who Code, they do a bunch of projects and other kinds of activities with Mr. Christian. “Anyone can join anytime. It’s set up so you can learn on your own time on any kind of level.” There are about 14 students in the club at the moment and there’s also going to be a sophomore from the U of A who will be volunteering.
