Fallout 76 Review
January 15, 2019
At E3, game developer Bethesda released it’s upcoming game, Fallout 76, on November 14th, 2018. The game was going to be completely online and had the biggest world out of all the games in the Fallout franchise. However, many fans of the Fallout games hated the idea of Bethesda changing the Fallout people love into a multiplayer only game. Prior to the game being released, they launched a BETA test of the game, accurately called the “Break-It Early Test Application.” The BETA was open for one week and was specifically designed to fix most bugs before the full game was released.
One of the main points of Fallout 76 was that the player could team up with others and detonate a nuclear bomb on another players base. However, when the game was first released, doing so caused the entire game to crash which outraged players. Players in both Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 are able to completely customize the type of clothing the player has on for each body part. One of the earliest problems was that if a player takes off and puts on his left leg armor the entire server crashes. Bethesda is constantly working to fix these bugs, but it’s almost become expected of any Bethesda game to have these type of bugs.
When I first loaded Fallout 76, I was really excited, because I had been waiting for a long time for this game to come out. Upon playing it, although, there were things I like and things I dislike. The first thing that disappointed me was that I was forced to play online. Bethesda had originally said there was going to be a single player option available, but that didn’t happen. I play the game basically as a single player game though and avoid all other players at all costs which makes it enjoyable for me. Another thing I dislike about the game is that since it is online, the NPCs (non-playable-characters) no longer have any dialogue. However, the story is still captivating and the player must figure out what happened to a group known as the Responders. Despite all of its flaws and bugs, I would recommend Fallout 76, because the story is still fun and interesting, and the enemies keep the player on his/her toes.
