• The first Thanksgiving was held in Plymouth, Massachusetts in 1621, which also included 50 Pilgrim and 90 Wampanoag Indians, and the dinner lasted for about 3 days. 
• Historians say that turkey has never been served on Thanksgiving. Are you wondering what they were eating besides turkey? Well they would eat deer, venison, ducks, geese, oysters, lobster, eel, and fish. They never ate mashed potatoes or any kind of turkey stuffing. Well let’s just say that they didn’t eat what we eat for Thanksgiving.
• There were never any forks at the first Thanksgiving, but there was spoons and knives. Forks were not introduced to the Pilgrims until about 10 years later. Weird right?
• Every year the President of the United States pardons a turkey and spares it so it doesn’t get eaten on Thanksgiving. The first ever turkey ceremony started with our 33rd President, President Truman in the year 1947.
• Turkeys can run 20 miles per hour when they’re scared. It happens a lot when they get scared, especially around Turkey Season. 
• Thanksgiving is the reason for TV dinners! In 1953, Swanson had so much extra turkey (260 tons) that a salesman told them they should package it onto aluminum trays with other sides.
• Thanksgiving and football got together like, well – like apple pie and ice cream! The NFL started the Thanksgiving Classic games in 1920 and since then the Detroit Lions and the Dallas Cowboys have hosted games on Turkey Day.
