Interact Club Spices Up Nurse’s Office
November 14, 2018
The nurse’s office just got a bit brighter. On November 3rd, last Saturday, the Interact Club painted the office a vibrant green.
Engineered Painting & Coatings donated painting supplies and time to our school.
Everyone is loving the bright new color in the nurse’s office. Ronnie Duncan, the treasurer, who also happens to be Nurse Duncan’s daughter, had the idea to repaint and Katie Davis was able to get in contact with a professional painter. He was able to donate his time and supplies to our school.
The Interact Club wants to be noticed by other students at Sahuaro in hopes of more people joining. They enjoyed helping the office get a new look for the 2018 school year. The Interact Club, sponsored by Mr. Wells, meets every Tuesday at 3:20 PM in room 327. Their purpose is to volunteer and do community service around the school and around the city. This year they all have gone to Ronald McDonald House and cooked food for the guests. These are people who must travel more than 30 miles to receive medical care for a sick or injured child, and can stay with them at no cost, for as long as their child is receiving treatment. They helped with the Soling Tom’s Fall Festival, and they do several service Saturdays throughout the year. To join the Interact Club, all you have to do is go to one of the meetings, tell them you want to join, and then you’re in, just like that.
Ms. Duncan, Sahuaro’s school nurse, enjoyed having the Interact Club help out and paint her office. She loves the color because it brings out everything in the room. “This was truly a community effort between Sahuaro students, the Interact Club, community members, and local businesses.” Ms Duncan said. She also said, “We sang along to songs from Disney movies and Christmas songs. There was a lot of laughter and fun. Most of the students had never painted and we all learned some great tips from the professional painter. Everyone did a great job!” Ms. Duncan is hoping to have all her health office posters up by next week if the painting is dry.
